WHAT IS IT ABOUT CHRISTMAS AND JESUS?




One of the events I looked forward to every year as a child was the Christmas and New year Celebrations. In my part of the world, a lot of activities revolve around these celebrations. As a child, I looked forward to the Christmas and New year Celebrations because of the food, the new clothes, affection from loved ones/family and the exciting atmosphere of celebration. Recently, in a conversation with a friend, I was reminded  of my childhood experience when he said, “Christmas celebration is for children, not adults…”

Even as Christians all over the world celebrate Christmas today, I want to inspire a desire in you to know more about this man called JESUS. Why are Christians celebrating His birth, what is it about Christmas and Jesus? I am sorry, I have no scientific answer for you, but if you read Philippians 2:4-11, you will have a better understanding.

4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.


On behalf of my family, I wish you a Merry Christmas!  My life has meaning because of this man called Jesus! He gave His Life for me, what more can I say but Happy Birthday Jesus! 
May your life be full of God’s love and tender mercies. May His love envelope you out of every storm that threatens your peace, in Jesus Name, amen.

Today, I am celebrating Christmas with a better understanding, that beyond the food, gifts, love… Christmas is about Love that sacrifices, Love that gives, Love that forgives…This is why I celebrate Christmas.

Prayer
The reason why I can celebrate Christmas today is because I have accepted Him as my Lord and Saviour. I pray that you will experience the Love and Life that Jesus offers, if you have not yet accepted Him. John 3:1- 18
