God’s label for your life

Few days ago, I was doing my laundry and as I grouped the clothes in like colours, the label on my dark coloured leggings caught my attention. This was not the first time I was washing it, but for some reasons, this time, its label drew my attention. It read:
“Machine wash with cold water

Wash with like colours

Only non-chlorine bleach when needed

Do not use any softener

Tumble dry low

Remove promptly

Medium Iron when needed”

The other side of the label read “90% cotton, 10% Spandex, Style: DL…, Colour: BLKSOT, Made in ….”

As I concluded my reading, my eyes watered with tears, as I pondered on how much God loves us. God created each of us uniquely; we are custom made! We are made according to God’s specification. No wonder, there can’t be another version of you! He made us with specifics. I’m not just referring to your height, colour of your skin, hair or eyes. I do not only mean the shape of your ears, mouth, eyes or nose, or whether you are on the big body size or the small body size or just petite…

God knows your frame, that part of you the world cannot see, understand or appreciate now. He knows the capacity of the brain he has given you, he knows how much food your body needs per day. He knows how emotional you are. What thrills me more is that He knows how to manage you!
Can’t you see that living without an interest in this God is injustice to your existence? Little wonder, David in Psalms 139said, ‘…such knowledge is too much for me!’

Growing up among my siblings and relating with my peers was to me an uphill task. I was too emotional! I remember that a few years back while I was serving my country under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), someone made an unkind remark about me and I broke down in tears! Thinking of that now, makes me laugh! I have long moved from being that person to being a person whose emotions are fixed on God.
Friends, we can’t live life on our own terms and expect it to give us the best. We have to live on God’s terms because He knows what’s best for us.
Back to my story, I was very upset and disappointed in myself that I actually broke down in tears! Do you feel this way when you are emotional? Dr. Deborah Serani’s assertion in, ‘How can I manage hurt feelings?’ should encourage you. She affirms that,

Emotions are a natural response to life.

Over the years, I have learnt to ask God, ‘Why did you make me this emotional?’ What’s the purpose for these emotions? How do I manage my emotions? I found all the answers in God’s word: The Holy Bible. I came across scriptures that helped me to understand myself and my purpose, scriptures that still give me hope.
Keep your hope alive and do not give up.

My name is Precious, I was bipolar and I live a full life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I need your help. Help me to live the life that you would have me live, Help me to acknowledge you in all my ways, in Jesus name.
